Harbour House primary bathroom after renovation

The project

The homeowners wanted a curbless shower, which is a decision made in the substrate long before it is visible.

Slope, drainage and waterproofing were set out first. The stone layout was then planned so that the full slabs land where the eye goes.

Everything else in the room — the vanity, the glass, the hardware — was chosen to stay out of the way of the stone.

Scope of work

  • Complete demolition and waterproofing
  • Wet room with curbless shower
  • Stone floor and wall installation
  • Custom double vanity

Common questions

About bathroom remodel projects

What homeowners in Broward and Palm Beach County usually ask before a project like this one begins.

How long does a primary bathroom remodel take?
A full primary bath rebuilt to the studs typically takes six to ten weeks. Waterproofing and stone lead times, not the tile setting, are what usually decide the finish date.
Is a curbless shower a good idea in a Florida home?
It is, provided the slope, drainage and waterproofing are designed before demolition. A curbless shower is built in the substrate; if that is detailed correctly it is both accessible and completely watertight.
How do you prevent leaks in a new shower?
We use a continuous waterproofing membrane, pre-slope the pan, flood-test before tiling and photograph each stage so the homeowner can see what is behind the finish.
Can you match natural stone across the floor and walls?
Yes. We select and lay out slabs before installation so veining runs where it should and full pieces land in the most visible positions.
