Showroom lighting is designed to sell. Take samples home and look at them in the room they are destined for, in the morning and at night.
Ask how it wears, not how it looks
Some materials patinate and improve. Others simply show damage. Honed stone forgives; high-polish does not. Matte hardware hides handling; bright finishes record it.
Neither is wrong — but you should choose knowingly.

Favour what can be repaired
Solid wood can be refinished. Site-finished floors can be spot-repaired. Materials that can be brought back are worth a premium in a home with children, pets or salt air.
